The most important asset to the success of your business is time.  Since many of the services provided in many businesses are based on essentially selling your time to people.  As a internet marketer, consultant or salesperson of any kind your time truly is money.  How well you guard your time and how well you spend your time will determine your income level in your business.  The businesses that succeed, especially in this economic downturn will be those that make effective use of time.

What are some of the things to recognize to ensure you are making effective use of your time:

1.) Don’t waste time with unproductive people-Unproductive people are everywhere.  At networking meetings, conferences and at the local coffee shop.  Unproductive people are usually very good talkers and not very good doers.  They love to talk about their ideas and how easy this or that business idea would be to implement.  Rarely if ever do they actually execute on any of these ideas.

2.) Look at your revenue and profit over the three months-If your revenue has been non existent for the last three months or more your time is not being spent well.  This is a simple measure to evaluate.  Obviously, depending on how deep your pockets are this can not be continued indefinitely.

Finally, time wasters and unproductive behaviors are contagious.  Do your best to keep your distance from these types of people and their bad habits and your business will thrive.

I had a high-paying, 9 to 5 job for ten years and gave all that up to do my own thing. Why do you ask? Because the potential to have my freedom back and earn unlimited income was too tempting. After grinding it out for 10 years I decided I needed a change if my dreams were ever to come true. In 2006, I started a business consultancy and small business services company Centuria Partners and most recently I partnered with a truly awesome organization the Wealthy Affiliate University
